Biography

Adam Sandler was born on the 9th of September, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of Stanley Sandler, an electrical engineer and Judith, a nursery school teacher. His family is Jewish and from both sides, he descends from Russian Jewish immigrants.

When Adam was only six years old, their family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated in 1988. 

Even before he graduated, Adam already started acting professionally. He started to make cameo appearances in the Cosby Show and on the MTV game show “Remote Control”.  After graduating he started landing film roles in movies like 1989’s Going Overboard. This was his first major movie role, and the start of a very fruitful career for Adam Sandler.

Career

After his film debut Going Overboard in 1989, Sandler performed in a couple of comedy clubs. He really had a passion for this and did this the first time at age 17. Another comedian, Denis Miller, discover him. He saw a great talent in Adam Sandler and recommended him to Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels.

In 1993, Adam Sandler appeared in the film Coneheads (with Chris Farley, David Spade and Dan Aykroyd). A year later, in 1994, he co-starred in Airheads with Brendan Fraser and Steve Buscemi.
